It was two months after Endor.

A perfectly normal (for him) night's sleep was interrupted. It was like a mental hiccup, or a system reboot. He wasn't aware of anything and then-

The bond snapped into place before he gained awareness. It was old and young and familiar, a previously cautious candlelight that felt closer to a hearthfire now, tempered and warming and clear. The memories rushed back as he woke, sitting up with a choked gasp and a flare of Force awareness and anxiety bright enough that he felt Leia awaken on the otherside of the system with it.

He couldn't explain to her. To anyone. All he could do was throw on clothes as he went, grabbing the bare necessities and choking out something about 'Jedi business, another Jedi, I can feel him' before he was loading up R2 and the X-Wing.

Outer Rim.

He went to Botajef. Intersection of major hyperspace lanes. Near Dathomir, near Yavin, it felt significant and right.

And once he was there, he set himself outside of the main city and he reached out, along the bond and just in general, because he knows the bond is good, but at the same time, he isn't confident about it.

Cal Kestis. I'm here. I know you.

Finesse is for when the longing borne of absence has been sated somewhat. They have time to rediscover all the best ways they come together, and even the less than best ones will be fun to find on the way.

He's probably tangled himself too deep into the bond, but he can't care because Cal's pleasure is intoxicating and addicting and feeds his own need. He takes everything Cal offers and feeds it back to him and however soon the climax comes doesn't matter, because it's shared and he's tightening and twisting on Cal's cock, under his hands. And as he sinks into the bed, shivering softly, his mind lets go of Cal, even though he's leaning up to chase another kiss.

Somehow, for all that Luke's presence in the Force is often overwhelming, Cal hadn't realised how tightly woven they were until Luke draws back. Suddenly he feels a little empty, even as he's wrapped up in Luke's warmth and scent and he instinctively moves to fulfil that search for a kiss. And though he presses their lips together with insistence, he can't find the energy for much more than that, and after a few moments he breaks away with a huff of laughter to carefully lower his entire body down onto Luke's.

He's sure it's fine if he just stays in this heat for a little while longer before pulling out, nuzzling Luke's temple and brushing his fingers idly down his arm.

Luke is small, not fragile. He pulls Cal down onto him, hugging him briefly and then letting his arms just rest around Cal's neck and shoulders. He doesn't want him to move, enjoying the weight and the heat and the contentment of feeling Cal in him.

He hums softly at the nuzzle, smiling to himself. "Welcome home, Cal," he whispers.

It feels like maybe that should be his line. Or, rather, he supposes they've both come home now, finally. And in a way he supposes he's been gone longer.

"It's good to be home," he murmurs.

Luke's left hand strokes along Cal's back, fingertips lightly dancing along his spine back up. "It feels more real now. There. Here. All of it."

Not just abstract memories, or fantasy. It was real between them. It's still real. As real as Cal's weight pressing him into the bed.

The touch is a little ticklish, but definitely not in a bad way. He feels his skin prickle beneath it, and smiles into the pillow.

"Yeah."

They definitely need a shower pretty bad, but it could wait a few more minutes.

Luke's fingers scratch more firmly through Cal's hair and across his scalp before giving him a firm squeeze. "Well, we both smell terrible now."

He barks a laugh, and bumps his nose into Luke's cheek as a sort of reprimand. Sure, he'd thought so himself, but they were so comfortable!

With that, he finally shifts to carefully pull out, and lies back down a bit further down Luke's body. Just because Luke has pointed out the fact that they need to shower that doesn't mean they have to move right away. First, Cal wants to rest his ear against Luke's chest, listen to his heart, feel it rise and fall with his breath.

Luke chuckles at the bump.

And no, they don't have to move yet, but Cal's moving away, which draws a low moan of slight discomfort and maybe just a touch of whining because he can. But Cal's doesn't actually move far, settles again and Luke drops his left hand to brush Cal's hair and touch his face, relaxing into the bed again.

When Luke's fingers brush his hair, his eyes flicker shut, and his lips settle into a contented smile. This is a very dangerous position to be in if they want to shower - because they need to shower - because it's far too comfortable.

"Could fall asleep," he murmurs with amusement.

"Shower will be there when you're awake," Luke says softly. He's comfortable, he can live with not showering yet. If Cal wants a nap, Luke's down for a nap. There's no pressure on them right now. No one needs saving, nothing needs exploding, they can just take a bit for themselves.

"Mmm. True."

Nap it is. He can't remember the last time he felt this comfortable and safe, for all that there's still a limit to how safe the galaxy is for a Jedi. But he takes these moments where he can get them.

Luke hums softly, fingers still stroking along Cal's back. It takes another moment or two before he reaches out and pulls a spare blanket from the cupboard, draping it over them for when they start to cool down again.

Feeling that blanket settle over them, he hums happily, nuzzling Luke's chest for a moment before he settles again. It won't take more than a few minutes for him to fall asleep, possibly deeper than he has in weeks.

Luke isn't quite ready to sleep. He hasn't been travelling desperately for the last few days, so instead he's going to lie here and soak in the feeling of being here, with Cal. Feeling that bond settling in his chest, where he can still feel Leia's presence, where the lingering remnants of his connection to Ben still remain.

He slips into something between meditation and napping, hand resting protectively on the back of Cal's neck while he sleeps.

Yay I did it!

Most of the sleep Cal gets is sporadic and brief, squeezed in between missions or trips. It's also often fitful, riddled with dreams or nightmares. This time, although he drifts out of sleep once or twice to change position until he's got his face buried against Luke's neck instead, is at least quiet.

Even so, by the time he wakes properly a few hours later, it still doesn't feel like it's been enough.

He heaves a sigh, nuzzling his nose beneath Luke's jaw, squeezing his arms around him like he could possibly get any closer. In a way, he feels like those eighteen years haven't passed. Like he's the same person he was then.

By then, Luke has gone to sleep for real, head tipped aside to let Cal nuzzle in against his neck and hand still cupping the back of his head.

Cal's return to consciousness brushes against him and he finds himself smiling, squeezing Cal gently. "Hey," he murmurs, voice slightly croaky.

"Mm. Hey."

No doubt he could easily sleep more, but at this point he probably shouldn't, not least because he wants that shower. So although he doesn't move, he makes himself open his eyes, only to immediately close them again when he yawns.

Luke chuckles at the yawn and squeezes Cal again. "I know, but it's probably time we actually got that shower we were talking about." He drums his hands lightly on Cal and wriggles from side to side. "Much as I love having you right here."

"Exactly what I was thinking," he says, voice thick with sleep, even as he nuzzles Luke some more. "But moving is so hard."

His limbs feel like rocks.

"Mm." Humming, Luke wriggles and then pushes, rolling them over to put Cal on his back, sitting astride him. "Too hard?" He shifts his weight suggestively, looking pleased with himself for his dumb pun.

He doesn't expect to be flipped over and for a moment he's purely confused. Luke's weight settling on him helps him register what's actually happening, and finally the pun makes him sputter and laugh.

"Shut up!"

The shove he gives Luke's stomach is halfhearted, but still firm enough that Luke might fall over if he doesn't focus.

Luke laughs and holds onto Cal's body with his knees, keeping his balance easily as Cal pushes him. "You love it!" He shifts his weight forward, hands on Cal's chest. "Absence makes the heart grow fonder."

With a huff and a smile, he puts his hands over Luke's.

"You've got me there."

Because this is, of course, one of the many things he's missed. Messing around, playing, telling bad jokes.

"All right, you've forced me to move. Get off me so we can shower."

There's a momentary thought to refuse, to make Cal manhandle him to get up but he quashes it just as fast. They need a shower. Need.

He flops off to the side for a long stretch, shamelessly naked and uncovered and relaxing with a sigh. "Okay, yeah, wash time. We smell worse than wet Wookie."
